Scope and capacity
Prime SMF02 is the second data center on Prime Data Centers' Sacramento campus and entered construction with a May 7, 2026 groundbreaking. The facility is designed for 150,000 square feet and 18 MW of critical IT capacity. Prime says SMF02 will use closed-loop chilled-water cooling, while the broader Sacramento campus is served by SMUD with an on-site substation. Current campus materials report 10 carriers in proximity; that figure describes campus connectivity rather than an SMF02-specific on-net carrier count. The project is expected to support roughly 250 construction jobs and about 30 permanent operating jobs.
