Scope and capacity
Homer City Redevelopment is converting the former Homer City coal-power site in Indiana County, Pennsylvania into an energy and data-center campus. The developer’s plan centers on up to 4.4 GW of new natural-gas generation using seven GE Vernova turbines, with Kiewit as EPC contractor and first power targeted for 2027. Pennsylvania DEP approved the air-quality plan in November 2025, and Knighthead Capital Management leads the redevelopment financing. The 4.4 GW figure is generation capacity, not operating IT load, and the data-center tenants and phase-level IT demand remain undisclosed.
